Moratti looking for best Adriano solution

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti said on Saturday that the club is looking to find the best solution for depressed striker Adriano.

The Brazilian did not return to the club after heading back to his homeland on international duty at the end of last month and earlier this week said he would take a break from the game.

Inter are believed to be thrashing out a deal with the forward’s agent Gilmar Rinaldi to terminate his contract.

“No I was not shocked by his words,” said Moratti in response to a question on Sky Sport about Adriano’s press conference, when he said he would not be going back to Italy because he was not happy there.

“I’m sorry that he’s in this situation with that tired face. But I agree that at the moment we have to find the best solution for him.

“I haven’t been able to talk to him. He was kind in the words he said about myself and the club.

“But the important thing is that he is well and can live his life, whether or not that be in football, although at the moment he is bored with the game.”

Speaking on Thursday from Rio de Janeiro, where he had been seeking shelter in the favela in which he grew up, Adriano admitted he was not going to return to Milan.

“I’m not planning an immediate return to Italy. I’ll be unhappy there,” he said.

“I need to think about my career. I’m not happy in Italy. I am here in Brazil with my family and friends.”

On Friday Inter coach Jose Mourinho suggested he was no longer counting on the 27-year-old.

“Inter have done everything possible to help him before I arrived and since I’ve arrived,” he said.

“If he stops playing and becomes a happy man then that’s perfect.”

Adriano’s former coach Cesare Prandelli, during his spell at Parma from 2002-04, took a more paternal approach.

“At Parma, Adriano was very motivated, he was in the right environment with many young players,” he said.

“He was particularly sensitive, he suffered a lot from his father’s death.

“Right now he is suffering from a depression crisis and he needs help. He needs to rediscover the desire to train, the love of the football pitch.”
