Moura relishing life in Paris

Prized Paris Saint-Germain recruit Lucas Moura was happy with his debut for the French club, despite their goalless draw with Ajaccio.

Moura joined PSG for a reported fee of 35 million euros in August but only arrived in the French capital in the New Year after seeing out the domestic campaign with Sao Paulo.

The Brazilian attacker, who turned down Manchester United, finally made his first appearance for Carlo Ancelotti’s men in their dull stalemate at home to Ajaccio on Friday.

“The stadium was packed and it was great to soak up that atmosphere,” he said.

“I was really looking forward to experiencing this feeling in Europe. I am happy with what I did tonight at the game.

“I wish we had won, of course, but that’s football. You can’t always win.”

The 20-year-old, who featured in Brazil’s Olympic campaign at the London Games last year, said he would continue to improve as he settles into his new surroundings.

“I was happy to play on the right, which is where I’m used to being,” Moura said.

“But gradually I will get more settled and more adapted to the team and that will only be positive for me. I’ll work hard.

“I promise to PSG supporters and lot of fighting spirit and lot of desire. I will work hard to always be at my best.”

PSG played the majority of Friday’s second half with 10 men following Thiago Motta’s red card and Moura believes the dismissal took away the team’s momentum.

“The sending-off (Thiago Motta’s) caused us problems,” he said.

“It made things even more difficult for us.

“They (Ajaccio) were defending well and we couldn’t get in. We still created a couple of chances, but unfortunately did not manage to take them.

“At least we worked hard and tried as much as we could. Now we need to regroup and think of the next game.”
