Napoli have clinched the signing of goalkeeper Rafael from Santos, the Brazilian club have confirmed.
The Serie A side are reported to have paid €5 million to land the Brazil international, who has played for Santos his whole career.
Rafael revealed that playing in the UEFA Champions League was a major attraction.
“I always thought I would finish my career here at Santos but with the passage of time I realised that I wanted to play in Europe and in the Champions League,” the 23-year-old was quoted as saying by Football Italia.
“That does not mean that one day I will (not) come back and finish my career at Santos.”
New Napoli boss Rafa Benitez has made a number of signings since arriving at the club, including wingers Dries Mertens and Jose Maria Callejon from PSV Eindhoven and Real Madrid respectively.
