Napoli step up chase for Darmian

Serie A giants Napoli are stepping up their efforts to recruit Torino full-back Matteo Darmian, Il Corriere dello Sport can reveal.

The Azzurri have been on the lookout for a new right-sided defender due to the fact that both Christian Maggio and Giandomenico Mesto are expected to leave when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

According to the latest reports, Napoli have made Torino’s Matteo Darmian their primary target ahead of the summer transfer window.

With the full-back already a first team regular for Italy, the Azzurri are convinced he would be a great signing for the club, but luring him to Stadio San Paolo will be no easy task.

Other top Italian sides are also keen on the 25-year-old, with Torino obviously looking to sell to the highest bidder.

After enjoying a 5-4 aggregate win over Athletic Bilbao, I Granata face Zenit in the Europa League last 16 stage and they are 8/5 to make it to the quarter-finals.
