Brazilian striker Neymar will undergo a throat operation in the wake of his stunning efforts at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Neymar, 21, was named as the best player of the tournament after Brazil’s 3-0 final victory over Spain in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.
The forward – who moved to Barcelona for €57 million from Santos last month – scored four goals in his five Confederations Cup matches for Brazil.
Neymar will leave for Spain shortly, but before he departs he will have a minor operation to correct a throat problem.
“It’s a problem that I have, my throat always bothers me,” Neymar said after the final.
“So we’re going to operate to resolve it once and for all.”
