Ozil leaves door open for Real Madrid return

Arsenal fans will not be too pleased to hear that German international Mesut Ozil has refused to rule out a possible future return to his former club Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old in-form playmaker spent three years playing for Los Blancos before his 2013 move to London, where he has developed in one of key men for Arsene Wenger’s side.

The World Cup winner is enjoying a fantastic season with the Gunners, having so far scored nine goals in all competitions for the North London club.

Arsenal are trying to have Ozil sing a new deal with the club, but the transfer negotiations are not going according to plan and Real Madrid appear to be willing to exploit the current stalemate.

Asked if he would be interested in a return to Santiago Bernabeu, Mesut Ozil refused to rule any potential deal out, revealing that he still has friends over there and fond memories of his time with Los Blancos.

“You never know what can happen”, he said in an interview with the Spanish news outlet Marca.
