Race hots up for Matej Vydra

A number of Premier League sides are keen on adding Udinese striker Matej Vydra to their ranks, according to Metro.

The Czech forward largely impressed while on loan at Watford last term, earning the Championship Player of the Year award in the process.

He has since rejoined his parent club Udinese, but a return to the English Premiership could be on the cards.

West Ham and Norwich have already expressed their interest in the highly rated forward, while West Bromwich are the latest club to have joined the race.

The Baggies desperately need some firepower up front after Romelu Lukaku returned to Chelsea and they are ready to make a move on the 21-year-old forward.

Matej Vydra, who joined Udinese from Banik Ostrava, scored no less than 22 goals in 44 Championship fixtures last term.

That, however, did not prove enough for Watford to gain promotion to the Premier League as the Hornets lost the play-off final to Crystal Palace.
