Four successive victories in the Barclays Premier League in October saw Liverpool end the month at the top of the Premier League for that month.

Wins against Manchester City, Wigan Athletic, Chelsea and Portsmouth were enough to take Liverpool to the top of the league and ensure the Manager of the Month award for October for Reds manager Rafa Benitez.

Rafa Benitez complimented all of the Liverpool staff and said that it was also because of their efforts that the club had finished the month where they were.

He added that if the club wins more of the same awards then they could be at or close to the top come the end of the season.
