The Ballon d’Or nominations are out, and unsurprisingly holder Cristiano Ronaldo is among the name mentioned. The Real Madrid forward has been in outstanding form over the course of the year, scoring 16 goals in 8 games this season alone, which includes three hat-tricks.

There aren’t many players who can compare to the 29-year-old incredible’s run of form in 2014, which saw Ronaldo win the Champions League with Real, scoring in the semi-final and final. The Portuguese international also scored all four of his country’s goals in the two legged World Cup playoff against Sweden to send Portugal into this summer tournament.

As a result, Betfair are giving odds of 1/6 for Ronaldo to win the Ballon d’Or again. The 29-year-old has won it twice in his career, and he’s been head and shoulders above the competition for the last 18 months. He will have the likes of Lionel Messi (Barcelona & Argentina), and Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich & Germany) to contend with, but after continually topping the scoring charts in almost every competition Ronaldo looks a deserving winner.
