Roma eyeing Cristian Ansaldi

Serie A high flyers AS Roma are considering a summer move for Zenit full-back Cristian Ansaldi, Il Corriere dello Sport has suggested.

The Giallorossi are on the lookout for wide defenders as they already lack cover on the right flank and will see left-back Lucas Digne return to Paris Saint-Germain.

As a result, coach Luciano Spalletti hopes to get reunited with former player Cristian Ansaldi, who can operate successfully on either flank.

Following a somewhat disappointing spell at Zenit, the Argentine defender did well to kick-start his career while on loan at Genoa, making 18 Serie A starts this season.

His agent recently confirmed Ansaldi was interested in a move to AS Roma, and it is now up to the Giallorossi to reach an agreement with the Russian giants.

That should not be such a difficult task considering that the player’s contract is due to expire in just over a year.
