The future of Ronaldinho has been the subject of much speculation over the past three years, but it looks like the Brazilian playmaker’s time at Barcelona is up. However the alternatives for Ronaldinho are not as heavenly as Barcelona once was with Manchester City leading the chase for him.

The Daily Mail reports that the two clubs have already agreed a transfer fee which is thought to be in the region of £13 million, but Ronaldinho might not be tempted be a mid-table club. Actually, according to the same report, the Brazilian has made public his admiration for new Chelsea boss, Scolari.

However, this bit of news has not derailed Hughes’ confidence the his club stand a fair chance to land Ronaldinho.

“It’s a different project we are offering [than Chelsea],” said Mark Hughes, according to the Guardian

“This club is at a different stage of its development but maybe at this point of his career that will be a more interesting idea for him.

“There are people questioning him right now and, who knows, maybe what we are doing here would be more attractive to him than joining an established Champions League side. We’re trying to present him with a project that he will feel is the right one for him. It’s an exciting option where he can be the standard-bearer of this team, helping us to get where we want to be.”
