Sharp set for Reading switch

Billy Sharp has agreed a loan deal with Championship side Reading, Sky Sports understands.

The move will see the striker reunited with manager Nigel Adkins, who he has worked with at both Scunthorpe United and current club Southampton.

The 27 year old has been out of favour at St. Mary’s since they secured promotion back to the Premier League, and spent the majority of last season with Nottingham Forest, where he scored eleven goals in all competitions.

A number of clubs in the second-tier are thought to have made enquiries about Sharp, but it is the Royals who have won the race to secure his services.

He will spend three months at the Berkshire club, and is the second new face at the Madjeski Stadium following the arrival of defender Chris Baird on Friday.

The former Fulham man had been training with Queens Park Rangers, and has signed with Reading until January.
