Salvatore Sirigu is confident Paris Saint-Germain can go on a winning run after ending a mini-slump at Caen on Wednesday.

PSG had drawn their previous three competitive fixtures 1-1, but goals from Lucas Moura and Marquinhos at the Stade Michael d’Ornano sent the defending champions second in Ligue 1.

Goalkeeper Sirigu was relieved to get three points on the board to alleviate the pressure on the team and the Italy international is sure PSG can take confidence from the fixture going forward.

“It was important for us to win because when you don’t win, there is a little more pressure on you than is normal,” he told reporters.

“It gives us confidence, which is a good thing ahead of the matches still to come. We are very satisfied.”

Midfielder Javier Pastore echoed those sentiments and felt the performance was arguably PSG’s best of the season.

“The most important thing was to win,” he commented. “We had a very good game, maybe our best since the beginning of the season.

“There are many things to improve, but the important thing is to win and get some points.”
