Southampton keen to keep hold of Mane

Southampton are keen to tie Sadio Mane down to a new contract amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, according to the Express.

The Senegal international was linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer though he remained with the south coast club.

However, United are expected to reignite their interest with Chelsea also expected to join the race to secure his services though the Saints will not let him go without a fight.

The twenty-three year old penned a four year contract with Southampton when he signed from Salzburg in the summer of 2014.

He has since racked up forty-nine appearances in all competitions, scoring sixteen goals while internationally he has six in twenty-two outings for his country.

Mane was unable to help his side fall to a 1-0 defeat to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon, a result which left Ronald Koeman’s men eighth in the table.
