Liverpool midfielder Suso has been called up to the Spain under-21 squad to face Italy under-21s on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old has impressed in his nine senior appearances for the Anfield outfit, most recently being named man of the match in the 1-0 loss to Anzhi Makhachkala in the Europa League on Thursday.
The former Cadiz man had previously been called up to the Spain under-19 squad, but is excited at the opportunity to test his ability at a higher level.
“I’m really excited to be called up to the U21 team for the friendly in Italy,” the young Spaniard tweeted.
Suso’s displays for Liverpool prompted manager Brendan Rodgers to award the midfielder with improved terms just three months into his career in England.
“At 18, he has demonstrated outstanding technical qualities but also shown very good temperament to play for such a prestigious club,” Rodgers told reporters.
Suso will look to continue his fine form when Liverpool make the trip to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
