Boca Juniors president Daniel Angelici feels it is “almost impossible” to envisage Carlos Tevez remaining at the club as he considers a lucrative offer to move to the Chinese Super League.

Shanghai Shenhua are reported to have put forward a contract that would make the former Manchester City and Juventus forward the highest-paid footballer in the world.

Tevez, 32, appeared to wave goodbye to his boyhood club as Boca beat Colon 4-1 at La Bombonera on Sunday and Angelici believes it was indeed farewell.

“I want him to stay but you see the numbers and the proposal from China is very strong,” he told La Red.

“It’s almost impossible he continues [at Boca].

“I have a very close relationship with Carlos and my hunch is that it is very difficult not to leave.”

Angelici revealed Tevez might not be the only departure from his squad to the Chinese Super League, with midfielder Fernando Gago having also attracted attention from an unnamed club in the CSL.

The ex-Real Madrid man is out of contract in June and the club president added: “We are talking to his agent but he has an offer from China.

“He told us he would prioritise Boca [but] If the offer they are handling is effective we cannot compete.

“If the Chinese come with that money, we have to let them all go.”
