Torino sign Serbian goalkeeper

Serie A side Torino have announced a deal for Serbian goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic on January transfer deadline day.

The 19-year-old footballer will join Granata from Lechia Gdansk at the end of the season, following in the footsteps of his brother Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who has already developed into an important player for Lazio.

After coming through the youth ranks at Vojvodina’s famous youth academy, the talented youngster was picked up by Manchester United, before being loaned back to his first club.

But, having failed to acquire a work permit for him, the Red Devils decided to offload Milinkovic-Savic last winter, when he went on to sign a four-and-a-half-year deal with Lechia Gdansk.

The shot-stopper quickly established himself as the club’s number one goalkeeper, and has so far made 29 appearances in Poland’s elite division, helping his side climb to second in the league standings.
