Torreira on his way to London

According to Sky Sports sources, Lucas Torreira is on his way to London in order to finalise a deal which would take him from Sampdoria to Arsenal. This move has been ‘on again, off again’ for the better part of two months, but now, it seems as if they’ve finally come to terms on an arrangement that will allow for the 22-year-old to make the jump over to English football just over a month before the Premier League season gets underway.

The Uruguayan has spent the last few weeks in Russia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where the midfielder’s stock has continued to rise. He’s been viewed as a key target for Unai Emery as the Spaniard begins his first full season in charge of the Gunners, with Arsenal’s defensive issues being one of the primary focal points for Emery as they attempt to challenge for the Premier League title once again.
