Uruguay duo set for Vicente Calderon exit

Atletico Madrid players Jose Maria Gimenez and Cristian Rodriguez could be leaving Vicente Calderon this summer, AS has revealed.

The talented defender is seen as a great prospect for the future, and he has showcased his qualities with some excellent displays for Uruguay at the 2014 World Cup.

But, with Diego Godin and Miranda still in the side, Gimenez will probably be farmed out on loan in order to gain much needed first team experience.

His compatriot Cristian Rodriguez has asked the club to be allowed to leave as he is not entirely satisfied with his current status at Vicente Calderon, and los Colchoneros are unlikely to stand in his way having signed him on a free transfer from FC Porto.

The 28-year-old has only started 14 league games since arriving from the Dragons, and he is determined to leave the club this summer in search of regular playing time.
