Aston Villa have announced the capture of Jordan Ayew from Lorient, the Ghana international signing a five-year deal after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.
The move was completed on Monday, just two days after Ayew blasted Lorient for blocking the switch by demanding too high a fee.
Ayew, who scored 12 goals in 31 Ligue 1 appearances last season, becomes Villa’s third signing from the French top flight during the transfer window, following the captures of Jordan Amavi and Idrissa Gueye.
“I’m really pleased to bring Jordan to the football club,” said manager Tim Sherwood.
“He is a fantastic young player who is perfectly suited to the Premier League.”
Ayew joins brother Andre in moving to the Premier League in the off-season, after his elder sibling completed a switch from Marseille to Swansea City last month.
Villa’s capture of Ayew follows news that full-back Jose Angel Crespo is also set for a move to Villa Park, after Cordoba announced the defender is due at the club for a medical.
