Senegal international striker Papa Waigo has signed a two-year contract with United Arab Emirates club Al Wahda.
The 28-year-old, who previously played for Southampton, Lecce, Fiorentina and Genoa, joins Al Wahda from Italian outfit Ascoli.
“He has got so much experience. He has played in the top leagues of Europe … in England, in (Italy) and also for his national team,” Al Wahda chairman Abdullah Nasser Al Junaibi was quoted on Sport360.
“He is a class player, tall with a lot of pace and high potency in front of the goal. So he is certainly a great addition to the squad and will add great value to the team.”
Papa Waigo, who has 15 international caps to his name, will hope to improve the Abu Dhabi club’s fortunes after they finished sixth last term.
