Watford will wait until at least September before deciding whether to offer new terms to long-serving full-back Lloyd Doyley, as he continues to recover from a neck injury.

Doyley, who is nearing the end of his contract, is undergoing rehabilitation after having neck surgery in May.

The Premier League new boys released a statement on their official website on Monday stating that talks over a potential new deal will begin when Doyley has returned to full fitness.

Doyley is a popular figure at Vicarage Road, having graduated through the club’s youth system to make his first team debut in 2001.

The 32-year-old has since made over 400 appearances for Watford and is the only member of the current squad to have been involved when the club last played in the Premier League in 2007.
