Zenit keen to keep hold of Danny

Russian newspaper Izvestia understands that Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti has made it clear that he won’t be selling star midfielder Danny.

The Portugal international has largely impressed since joining his current employers from Dinamo Moscow, helping the club win two Russian Premier League titles as well as UEFA Super Cup.

Meanwhile, he has been linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs, but the club chiefs have rejected several lucrative offers for the 30-year-old footballer.

According to Izvestia, Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti is not prepared to consider any proposals for his star player.

Danny became club’s most expensive signing ever when he joined from Dinamo for €30 million, but he has done really well to justify the hefty price tag.

The attacking midfielder went on to make 97 Russian Premier League appearances and scoring 35 goals in the process.

Danny has, however, failed to nail down a regular starting berth in the national team, featuring in just one 2014 World Cup qualifier.
