Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero says he is committed to staying with the club after signing a new deal at the Etihad Stadium.

The Argentine had been briefly linked with a move to Real Madrid after City failed to win a trophy this season but Aguero is keen to stay at the club and help it progress after penning a one-year extension to his contract, that had three years to run previously, last week.

“I’m happy to be part of a club that is growing so fast,” he told Goal.

“I’m very happy to be at Manchester City, it’s been two years now but hopefully we are going to do bigger things in the next few years.”

Aguero also confirmed he never had a desire to join the Bernabeu outfit, shrugging off “rumours” that he could have moved to the Spanish capital, and added that he feels City can bounce back and get back to winning ways next term.

“I’m committed to Manchester City, it’s a great club,” the former Atletico Madrid striker continued.

“You can’t win the title every year but we finished second, made the FA Cup final,” Aguero said. “Hopefully next year we can titles again.”
Once the City players return for pre-season training there will be a new manager in place, after Roberto mancini’s sacking, with Manuel Pellegrini reported to be favourite for the job.
And Aguero insisted whoever takes the reins will have the support of the team.
“There’s various rumours about it (Pellegrini) but we are going on holiday now,” he stated.
“When we get back, whoever is the manager, we will be behind him and the club.”
