16th February: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 14/1

While the Premier League might be taking a break this weekend, that doesn’t mean we’re short of action from across Britain. On that note, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your Saturday acca:

Saturday 16th February

BST 15:00 Sheffield United vs Reading

With Norwich publically slipping up at Preston in midweek, Sheffield United will be firmly believing they can book a return to the Premier League this season. Now sat just three points adrift of league leaders Leeds at the top of the Championship table, Chris Wilders’ side are now enjoying a four-match unbeaten run in the second-tier. A huge part of the Blades’ promotion push in the second half of the campaign has come thanks to their very eye-catching form at Bramall Lane. Picking up a 1-0 win over playoff contenders Middlesbrough in their last appearances on home soil, United have now won their last five home matches on the bounce. Even more impressive, Wilders men have now gone over 400 minutes without conceding a goal at Bramall Lane. Despite picking up a much-needed 2-1 win against Blackburn in midweek, Reading still remain firmly at the heart of a relegation battle and their form on the road will be a huge concern for José Manuel Gomes. The Royals have failed to pick up an away win in their last 12 Championship matches away from the Madejski, a run that stems back to the middle of September. Also scoring just two goals in their last six matches on their travels, we’re backing a comfortable afternoon for Sheffield United.

Tip: Home win to nil @ 5/4

15:00 Aberdeen vs St Mirren

Putting four past Queen of the South last weekend and booking their spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s FA Cup, the mood in Aberdeen’s camp should be on a high. With a defat to Rangers their only loss in their last five Premiership outings, the Dons wil be looking to keep the pressure on the leading pack in the second half of the season. One man who has continued to steal the headlines at Pittodrie is leading goalscorer Sam Cosgrove. Netting a brace in the Cup last weekend and picking up yet another Man of the Match award, the 22-year-old has been Aberdeen’s standout performer this campaign. Now bagging four goals in just his last two appearances, the striker has already netted 16 goals this year. More impressive Cosgrove has now scored 14 goals in his last 13 matches across all competitions. Hosting rock-bottom St Mirren this weekend, the hosts should be confident of extending that tally. The visitors have now lost their last five matches on the bounce and their 52 goals conceded this season is the worst record held by any side in Scotland’s top-tier. Conceding eight goals in their last two matches on the road, we’re backing Cosgrove to carry on his recent tally.

Tip: Sam Cosgrove to score anytime @ 7/4

15:00 Cambridge United vs Tranmere Rovers

While Cambridge were considered to be one of the leading contenders for relegation out of the Football League entering 2019, the hosts are enjoying a very impressive resurge. Coming off the back of a 1-0 win at home to Port Vale last time out, Colin Calderwood’s side have now won four of their last five League Two outings. With a real chance to make a push for the top half of the table, it will be their form at the Abbey Stadium most impressing fans in Cambridgeshire. Winning their last three matches on home soil and scoring seven goals on that run, a close fought 2-1 loss to league leaders Lincoln is their only league home defeat since the middle of October. Given Tranmere’s worrying run of form entering the second half of the season, Calderwood should be confident of extending their winning run. Saturday’s visitors have now lost three of their last four matches and have begun freefalling away from the playoff positions. Also losing six of their last eight matches away from Prenton Park, we’re backing another tricky afternoon on the road for Tranmere.

Tip: Home win @ 6/4

Our Saturday Accumulator:

Sheffield United vs Reading – Home win to nil @ 5/4
