16th March: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 13/1

While the FA Cup might steal the headlines this weekend, that doesn’t mean we’re short of action from across England’s footballing tiers. On that note, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips to boost your Saturday afternoon acca:

Saturday 16th March

BST 15:00 Burnley vs Leicester

Picking up a 3-1 win at home to Fulham last weekend and also securing Brendan Rodgers’ first win as Leicester boss, the Foxes appear to have refound thier form. Looking to mount the most surprising of European pushes under the former Celtic boss, fans around the King Power Stadium will look for attacking talisman Jamie Vardy to continue his bright run of form. Bagging a brace against the Cottagers last weekend and and also picking up an assist in Leicestershire, the 32-year-old is arguably enjoying his brightest spell of the campaign. With the now former England international now scoring four goals in his last three Premier League outings and also recording five in his last five, Vardy should be relishing a trip to a struggling Burnley this weekend. While the Clarets did show some improvements last month, Sean Dyche’s side appear to have slipped back to their old ways. Shipping four against Liverpool last time out, Saturday’s hosts have lost their last three matches on the bounce and hold just a two-point buffer from slipping back into the relegation zone. With Vardy also finding the net in his last appearance at Turf Moor, we’re backing the Leicester marksman to carry on his recent goalscoring tally.

Tip: Jamie Vardy to score anytime @ 13/8

15:00 Preston vs Birmingham

Coming off the back of a 2-1 win away at playoff contenders Middlesbrough in midweek, few would have expected Preston’s stellar run in the second half of the season. Alex Neil has now seen his side enjoy an 11-match unbeaten run in the Championship and Saturday’s hosts will have their sights firmly set on securing a top-six finish this year. With the chance to climb into the playoff positions for the first time this season, the former Norwich boss will be most impressed by the consistency of his side at Deepdale. Preston are remarkably yet to lose a match on home soil in 2019. Winning three of their last four league appearances, Neil’s side should be relishing the opportunity to come up against a Birmingham side really struggling at the back end of the season. Gary Monk’s side are coming off the back of a very poor display in their 2-0 loss at home to relegation contenders Bolton in midweek and the Blues have now lost their last three Championship matches on the bounce. Also failing to register a single goal in over 300 minutes of action, we’re backing another very difficult afternoon for Birmingham.

Tip: Home win @ 21/20

15:00 Sheffield Wednesday vs Blackburn

While Preston are enjoying their own run in the second half of the season, many have been impressed with the immediate impact that Steve Bruce has had since arriving at Sheffield Wednesday. Dreaming off their own surprising playoff push, the Owls sit just four points adrift of the top-six and they have shown some real improvements under the former Aston Villa boss. Coming off the back of a 2-0 win away at Bolton in midweek, Wednesday have yet to be beaten since Bruce’s arrival and have not tasted defeat in their last nine matches, their best run of the season. One man who is really spearheading the Owls’ promotion push is leading goalscorer, Steven Fletcher. Finding the net against Bolton on Tuesday, the 31-year-old has now bagged four Championship goals in his last five appearances. Arguably saving his best performances for Hillsborough, the former Wolves striker has now scored in four of his last five matches in Sheffield. With Blackburn so publically struggling on the road this season, Fletcher should be confident of extending his tally.

Tip: Steven Fletcher to score anytime @ 7/4
