18th July: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 10/1

With the fixtures from across the Premier League and the Championship really pilling up, Saturday offers us a string of eye-catching meetings from up and down the country. On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a weekend acca, we have found a few helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday 18th July

BST 12:30 Charlton Athletic vs Wigan Athletic

Starting with Saturday’s guests, putting in what was a famous display earlier in the week, few across the Championship would have expected what has been a stunning second half of the campaign for Wigan. Making yet another statement and picking up a remarkable 8-0 romp against relegation scrappers Hull on Tuesday night, the Latics have continued skyrocketing up the standings, despite all their issues off the pitch. Collecting seven points over their last three second-tier appearances, they are sat within touching distance of breaking into the top-12. Enjoying what has been by far their most fruitful run of form in recent memory, Wigan have lost just one of their last 13 Championship appearances and have a growing reputation for their performances at the back. Recording yet another clean sheet against the Tigers in midweek, Paul Cook’s side have now come away completely unscathed in 10 of their last 11 Championship outings. Picking up a 2-0 win when they faced off against Saturday’s hosts earlier in the season, Wigan will travel to the Valley confident of extending on their purple patch. Throwing away the lead in the most dramatic of fashion and having to settle for a point against fellow strugglers Birmingham in midweek, Lee Bowyer’s men have collected just a single point over their last four second-tier appearances. Also losing three of their last four matchups at the Valley, Charlton should be in for another tough test on Saturday lunchtime.

Tip: Wigan Athletic win @ 21/20

15:00 Hull City vs Luton Town

While Luton might have been left rightfully disappointed to have seen QPR come from behind and grab a late point in midweek, Saturday’s guests have continued to impress since making a return from the enforced break. Still boosted by what could turn out to be a crucial 2-0 victory against Huddersfield on the road last weekend, returning boss Nathan Jones has really made an immediate impact at Kenilworth Road. Really bouncing back from their thumping defeat against Reading last month, the Hatters have lost just one of their last 10 Championship outings and the mood in their camp should still be at a high. Knowing that three points on Saturday could see them find a route back out of the drop zone, the one-time Stoke boss will be most impressed by his side’s recent success on the road. Including that thumping win at the John Smith’s Stadium last week, Luton are unbeaten in their last four Championship away fixtures, a run that also saw them shock many with a 1-0 win away at Swansea. Still confident of extending on their second-tier status this summer, the Hatters will travel to the KCOM confident of cashing in on a woeful Hull. Putting in what was an embarrassing display away at Wigan in midweek and hit with a pathetic 8-0 defeat, the Tigers appear to be freefalling towards League One. Including a 2-1 defeat against a managerless Bristol City earlier in the month, Grant McCann’s side have lost their last four Championship contests on the spin.

Tip: Luton Town draw no bet @ 5/6

17:30 Norwich City vs Burnley

Starting with Saturday’s guests, battling from behind once again in the most dramatic of fashion, the mood around Turf Moor only continues to skyrocket. Watching Chris Wood’s 96th-minute penalty help the Clarets pick up a 1-1 draw against Wolves in midweek, Sean Dyche’s side will also be boosted by a stunning display at Anfield last weekend. Leaving Merseyside with a point intact and ending Liverpool’s chances of a 100% home record this season, Burnley find themselves in the midst of an eye-catching six-match Premier League unbeaten run and still have an outside chance of mounting their own shock European charge. Including their dramatic fightback at Anfield last week, Dyche will be hugely excited by his side’s recent performances away from Turf Moor. Including victory at Old Trafford prior to the enforced break, Burnley have lost just one of their last seven contests outside of Lancashire. With Norwich already sacrificing their Premier League status this summer, the Clarets will be confident of extending on their purple patch this week. Hit with a 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge in midweek, Daniel Farke’s men have lost their last nine contests on the bounce and have continued to show some rather glaring issues in front of goal. Picking up a 2-0 win when the two sides faced off on Premier League duties earlier in the season, we’re backing a similar outcome at Carrow Road this weekend.

Tip: Burnley win and under 3.5 goals @ 2/1
