According to Teamtalk, Aston Villa are prepared to step up their interest in Liverpool’s Curtis Jones, with the 25-year-old midfielder ready to leave his boyhood club in search of regular game time.
Though he has been a highly useful member of Arne Slot’s squad, being extremely versatile, Jones can hardly hope to start important matches when everyone’s fit. Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Florian Wirtz are all ahead of him in the pecking order, and Liverpool are reportedly planning new additions in the middle of the park this summer. Recent reports are crediting them with interest in Crystal Palace’s in-demand man, Adam Wharton.
This season, Jones netted twice and assisted twice in 43 matches across all competitions, though his main qualities are usually on display far from the opposition goal. He has missed two Premier League matches through minor fitness issues, starting 12 and making further 16 appearances off the bench.
Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur were both reportedly keen on the services of the six-cap England international in January.
Despite the loan transfer of Harvey Elliott not exactly going to plan, Aston Villa believe their relationship with Liverpool remains very good.
