23rd February: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 17/1

With the Premier League making it’s return this weekend we’re expecting a hectic Saturday of action from across England’s footballing tiers. On that note, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips to boost your weekend acca:

Saturday 23rd February

BST 15:00 Birmingham vs Blackburn

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, coming off the back of a shock defeat against relegation contenders Bolton last weekend, there is no doubt that Gary Monk will be calling for an immediate response. Now sat seven points adrift of securing a surprise playoff position, Birmingham are simply trying to keep the pressure on the leading pack. If the Blues are to get back to winning ways, then the former Swansea boss will be looking for leading goalscorer Che Adams to carry on what is becoming a very impressive run of form. Attracting a string of Premier League admirers in January, the 22-year-old striker has already bagged 19 goals this season. Scoring a hat-trick against QPR earlier in the month, Adams has now registered eight strikes in his last eight appearances. Given Blackburn’s struggles in the second half of the season, the Birmingham marksman should be confident of extending his Championship tally. Suffering a 1-0 loss at home to Middlesbrough last weekend, the visitors have lost their last four matches on the bounce, including a 2-1 loss away at relegation favorites Reading. With Tony Mowbray’s side recording just one away clean sheet since the start of November, we’re backing Adams to enjoy another successful afternoon in front of goal. It is also worth noting that in the 2-2 draw earlier in the season Adams recorded a last minute equalizer.

Tip: Che Adams to score anytime @ 7/5

15:00 Plymouth vs Rochdale

While Plymouth would have been disappointed to have only picked up a 0-0 draw against Bradford last weekend, many in League Two have been impressed by the Pilgrims push out of the relegation zone. Now losing just one of their last nine matches across all competitions, it will be their form at Home Park most impressing Derek Adams. Led by former Tottenham youngster Ruben Lameiras who has bagged seven goals in his last nine appearances, Saturday’s hosts are unbeaten on home soil since the middle of December. Scoring nine goals on that unbeaten run at Home Park and now holding a five-point buffer over the drop zone, Plymouth should be relishing Rochdale’s arrival on Saturday. Shipping four against rock-bottom AFC Wimbledon last weekend, the visitors have now recorded just one victory in their last nine matches across all competitions. Remarkably losing seven of those contests and holding just a one-point buffer from slipping into the drop zone, Keith Hill’s side have particularly struggled away from the Crown Oil Arena. Rochdale have lost three of their last four matches on the road and haven’t recorded an away clean sheet since the middle of November. With Plymouth picking up a 2-1 win when the two sides met back in December, we’re backing a similar result on Saturday.

Tip: Home win @ 6/5

17:30 Leicester City vs Crystal Palace

Failing to take their opportunities at Wembley last week and slumping to a 3-1 defeat against Spurs, many believe that Claude Puel’s time at Leicester could be coming to an end. Amidst an ongoing issue with leading goalscorer Jamie Vardy, the Foxes have now failed to win any of their last six matches across all competitions, losing five of those appearances. Also suffering a 2-1 loss to League Two outfit Newport County on that winless run, the former Southampton boss will be growing more concerned by his sides form at the King Power Stadium. Losing their last three Premier League matches on home soil, they have recorded just one victory in Leicestershire since the start of December. Now slipping out of the top half of the table, Leicester will not be looking forward to a visit from Crystal Palace on Saturday. Booking their spot in the quarterfinals of this year’s FA Cup, the Eagles are now unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions. Roy Hodgson’s side have also impressed on their travels of late. Aside from a close-fought 4-3 loss at Anfield last month, they’re yet to be beaten in their other four matches away from South London, including a 2-1 win away at Manchester City. It is also worthing noting Palace’s very impressive record against the Foxes. Picking up a 1-0 win over Puel’s side back in December, Saturday’s visitors have won their last three meetings against the former champions, scoring nine and keeping a clean sheet in each victory.

Tip: Away win @ 12/5
