5th October: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 14/1

With a hectic Saturday afternoon from across England’s footballing tiers before we enter the international break, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your weekend acca:

Saturday 5th October

BST 15:00 Burnley vs Everton

Starting with Saturday’s hosts, while Burnley may have had to come from behind twice to snatch a point at Villa Park last weekend, Sean Dyche’s men are enjoying a three-match unbeaten run since returning from last months international break. Now with their sights set on securing a top-half finish come May, fans around Turf Moor will be most impressed by their recent displays in the final third. Now scoring a pair of goals in back-to-back appearances, one man who has really started to shine entering October is the red-hot Chris Wood. Once again finding the net against Villa on the road last time out, the New Zealand international has now bagged three Premier League goals in his last two outings. Given Everton’s very concerning rut, there is no doubt that the 27-year-old should see this as a golden opportunity to extend on his recent purple patch. Shipping two late goals and suffering a 3-1 defeat at home to Manchester City last weekend, Everton have now lost their last three top-flight matchups on the bounce, their worst run since the start of February. It is also worth noting that the Toffees have failed to record a clean sheet in their last five Premier League appearances.

Tip: Chris Wood to score anytime @ 7/4

15:00 Lincoln City vs Sunderland

Although back-to-back draws against Bolton and Accrington Stanley may have started to mildly worry some around the North East, Sunderland have really bounced back in some style. Picking up a 2-1 win over fellow promotion hopefuls MK Dons last weekend, the Black Cats are now enjoying a five-match unbeaten run, a run that also saw them knock Premier League outfit Sheffield United out of the EFL Cup last week. With many tipping Jack Ross’ side as a huge favorite to clinch a Championship return this season, Saturday’s guests have also lost just a single matchup across all competitions so far this year. Handed the chance to climb back into the automatic positions and the mood in their camp at a continued high, Sunderland should be confident of exploiting Lincoln’s continued issues this weekend. Really struggling to adjust to life since Danny Cowley made the move to Huddersfield last month, the Imps have now lost their last three matches on the bounce, including a woeful performance in their 6-0 hammering at home to Oxford a fortnight ago. Losing six of their last seven matchups and without a win since the end of August, Saturday could prove to be another long afternoon for Lincoln.

Tip: Sunderland win @ 7/5

15:00 Hartlepool United vs Yeovil

Starting with Saturday’s guests, putting in a season-best display and picking up a 3-1 win over league leaders Bromley last time out, Yeovil have really enjoyed a stellar start entering October. Now securing back-to-back 3-1 wins, the mood in Neale Marmon’s camp is the highest it has been in recent memory. Now handed the chance to climb to the top of the National League and seen to be a favorite by many to secure an automatic return to the Football League, the White and Greens are in the midst of a seven-match winning run and are certainly the in form side in England’s fifth-tier. Holding the second-best attacking record in the division, Yeovil should see this weekend as a golden opportunity to extend their winning run. Playing out a pair of lackluster 1-1 draws against Chesterfield and Eastleigh, Hartlepool have now failed to win any of their last five appearances and their form on home soil will be most worrying fans around Durham. Craig Hignett’s men have won just one of their opening seven matches at the Super 6 Stadium.

Tip: Yeovil to score over 1.5 goals @ 11/8
