9th April: Tuesday’s Football Accumulator – 11/1

With a hectic Tuesday night of action from across England’s footballing tiers, we here at Soccer News have found a handful of helpful tips that can boost your midweek acca:

Tuesday 9th April

BST 19:45 Sheffield Wednesday vs Nottingham Forest

Although Sheffield Wednesday might be coming off the back of a 3-1 loss against Championship high-flyers Aston Villa last weekend, the mood in Steve Bruce’s camp will be on a high. Showing some real improvements since the former Hull City boss arrived back in January, the Owls’ will still have one eye on a late playoff push. With the chance to leapfrog their guests on Tuesday and potentially climb as high as eighth, their ongoing success at Hillsborough has played a huge part in Wednesday’s revival. Aside from their defeat on Saturday, Bruce’s men are unbeaten in their previous 10 Championship matches at home, a run that stems back to the end of November. One man who is really spearheading Wednesday’s playoff push is leading goalscorer Steven Fletcher. The 32-year-old has bagged five goals in his last seven appearances and has continued to shine at Hillsborough. Fletcher has scored four in his last three at home and also has happy memories against this weeks opposition. Finding the net when the two sides met earlier in the season, Nottingham Forest’s struggles on the road were once again on display over the weekend. Suffering a 2-1 loss away at relegation contenders Rotherham on Saturday, Martin O’Neill’s side have remarkably failed to win any of their last 11 matches away from the City Ground, a run that stems back to the 24th of November. Picking up just one away clean sheet in 2019, we’re backing an inform Fletcher to continue his goalscoring form.

Tip: Steven Fletcher to score anytime @ 15/8

19:45 Wycombe vs Charlton

Coming off the back of another impressive display in their 2-0 win away at Plymouth over the weekend, the mood in Charlton’s camp will be at a season-high. With their spot in the playoffs all but confirmed, Lee Bowyer’s side have arguably saved their best performances for the back end of the campaign. Chasing down a five-point deficit from pulling off an astonishing push for the automatic places, Tuesday’s visitors have now won four of their last five and are enjoying a nine-match unbeaten run. Also tasting defeat just once in 2019, the former Charlton midfielder will be most impressed by the performances of his side away from the Valley. Taking three points off a resurgent Plymouth over the weekend, the Reds are unbeaten in their last four matches on the road and have gone over 250 minutes without conceding an away goal. Picking up a 3-2 win over Wycombe when the two sides met back in September, Bowyer should be confident of extending their winning run on Tuesday. Suffering a 3-2 loss at home to Portsmouth on Saturday, Gareth Ainsworth’s side sit firmly at the heart of a relegation scrap. Holding just a one-point buffer over the drop zone and enduring a four-match losing run, their recent performances at Adams Park are becoming a growing concern. Wycombe have lost their last two matches on home soil and have failed to win any of their last six in Buckinghamshire. Conceding 10 goals on their four-match losing run, we’re backing another tough night for Ainsworth’s side.

Tip: Away win @ 5/4

19:45 Maidstone United vs Barnet

Picking up a 1-0 win away at Maidenhead over the weekend, few would have expected Barnet’s stellar revival at the back end of the season. Despite briefly flirting with the drop zone and many around The Hive fearing the worst, Tuesday’s visitors are enjoying an eight-match unbeaten run and have now remarkably climbed into the top half of the National League table. On a run of form that has now seen them take points off of Leyton Orient, Salford, and Eastleigh, it will undeniably be their recent defensive stability most impressing Darren Currie. Keeping clean sheets in both of their previous victories over Maidenhead and Eastleigh, Barnet have now kept a very eye-catching seven clean sheets on the bounce and have not picked the ball out of their own net in 650 minutes of action. While the Bees might be enjoying their brightest spell of the campaign, the same cannot be said for an already relegated Maidstone. Enduring a woeful campaign in the National League and still sat at the foot of the table, Tuesday’s hosts once again drastically struggled in their 2-0 loss against Salford over the weekend. Now losing four of their last five outings and failing to find the net in any of those defeats, Jay Saunders’ side look destined to go down with both the worse attacking and defensive record in the division. With Maidstone also losing four of their last five matches at the Gallagher Stadium, we’re backing a comfortable night for a resurgent Barnet.

Tip: Away win @ 1/1
