Scottish Premiership outfit Aberdeen welcome Latvian Ventspils at Pittodrie Stadium tonight for the first leg of the second round of the Europa League qualifiers. The Dons are also big favourites to come out on top in their own backyard against the minnows.
Aberdeen made the Europa League qualifiers after finishing second in the Scottish Premiership last season. They are notoriously hard to beat on their own soil, and do have some pedigree in Europe in recent years. The Scots made the third round of the Europa League qualifiers in the last two seasons so they’re full of confidence of winning.
As for their opponents, Ventspils are currently third in the Latvian Virsliga, having recently suffered three defeats from their last four in the domestic league. Away from home, the visitors have gone three games without a win, losing twice, so they’ big underdogs to get a result this evening.
