Ghana defender Harrison Afful said he has no regrets after being left out of their Africa Cup of Nations squad.
He said the technical handlers of the Black Stars know best and he will continue to focus on his game until the right time comes for him to make a return to national duties.
Speaking to Goal.com on transit from Egypt to Ghana over the weekend, the 2011 CAF Champions League hero said he believes in the 25-man squad revealed by coach Goran Stevanovic last week and trust they will return with the trophy.
“I’m fit to play in any tournament as we speak,” the Esperance stopper said.
“However, the coach’s decision is final.”
“Ghana have a lot of talented players so only a few can make it to the Nations Cup. That doesn’t mean those of us who couldn’t make it are not good. I’m not worried and I still believe my time will come.”
“If someone tells you I’m disturbed then that person is not being fair to me. I have a lot of confidence in the squad and I hope they’ll return with the ultimate. That’s most important and not about personalities.”
Afful is expected to arrive in Ghana on Monday to enjoy the rest of his vacation after an impressive 2011 display.
