Daniel Agger believes Denmark playmaker Christian Eriksen can become one of the finest players in the world if he can overcome his shyness.

The Liverpool defender feels his young compatriot adds some much-needed creativity to the national team, and spoke highly of the 20-year-old as the Danes prepare for Euro 2012.

“Eriksen has the potential to become world-class. He’s perhaps a bit too shy, and it wouldn’t hurt him to be a bit more dominant and aggressive. There are no boundaries to what he can achieve if he does that,” Agger told Ekstra Bladet.

“He really is a weapon for us. He adds some creativity to the team, and always wants to receive the ball. He’s also capable of taking set pieces with both feet. The way he kicks the ball is truly unique.

“He’s such a good player that it looks as if he’s already a seasoned veteran rather than a young kid. We no longer solely depend on Nicklas Bendtner.”

Denmark kick off Euro 2012 against Netherlands on June 9, before facing Portugal and Germany in their other Group B games in the tournament.
