Ake set for Bournemouth stay

The Independent understand that Eddie Howe has dismissed reports that Nathan Ake could be set to leave Bournemouth ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The Netherlands defender, who signed for the Cherries on a permanent deal from Chelsea in the summer of 2017 has been linked with a return to Stamford Bridge though his manager has poured cold water over such rumours.

Ake moved to the Vitality Stadium, initially on loan in 2016 making twelve appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring three goals.

He signed permanently a year later and has since played a further sixty-one times, scoring another five goals while since arriving on south coast he has made his senior international debut.

In total, he has been capped ten times for the Netherlands with his first international goal coming in a 1-1 friendly draw with Italy last summer.

Bournemouth host Chelsea on Wednesday evening and Ake is priced at 16/1 to score at any time.
