Alderweireld issues come and get me plea

Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld has put Liverpool on alert after admitting that he would be interested in a move to the Premier League, according to The Independent.

The 24 year old told De Telegraff that he only sees himself playing in England and Germany, thus ruling out a big money move to Portugal or Russia, where there has also been interest.

Liverpool have been linked with the Belgian international for some months, as they look to rebuild their defence following the retirement of Jamie Carragher, and with doubts over the futures of both Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates.

They have however already confirmed the signing of Manchester City centre-back Kolo Toure, who will join up with the squad on July 1st on a free transfer.

Alderweireld has 25 caps for the Belgian national side, and will keen to establish himself as the first choice partner for captain Vincent Kompany ahead on next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
