AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri was delighted with his side’s extraordinary Serie A fightback on Sunday.

Allegri watched his side come from 3-1 down to with 12 minutes remaining to level 3-3 before a German Denis strike in the 89th minute looked to have sealed all three points for Udinese.

But buoyed on by a fervent home crowd, Milan snatched an injury-time equaliser through Zlatan Ibrahimovic to earn the Serie A leaders a point.

“The team has played a good match, especially in the second half of the match,” Allegri said.

“When the score was 3-1, the team believed we could still do it and we recovered well. After that, we thought that the match would be too easy and conceded a fourth goal.”

“We kept fighting and were able to score the goal for 4-4 and have had a good chance with Abate to win the match in the last minute.”

Ibrahimovic said gaining a point was important to keep the momentum going.

“Well, it was important because losing today would have meant to slow down the spirit. We recovered from 3-1 to 3-3, then we were losing 4-3. It hasn’t been easy, but in the end we have made 4-4 and we have proved our temper,” Ibrahimovic said.

New Milan signing Antonio Cassano again impressed, providing two assists, including the one for the Ibrahimovic’s late equaliser.

“He has started very well. He is only lacking his fitness, but it’s normal,” Ibrahimovic said.

“The more he plays, the sooner he’ll get back to full condition. I believe he is the player that AC Milan was missing – a player who is able to pass the right balls to the forward players if Pirlo is missing.”

The Swedish striker also warned against complacency as a busy period looms.

“We’re top of the league. We should focus on one match at a time. We should not think about other teams and above all we should not make mistakes. If we have the chance to make it, we should make it,” he said.
