The agent of Joe Allen has dismissed reports that the Swansea City midfielder has handed in a transfer request.

Speculation has been rife since former Swans manager Brendan Rodgers moved to Liverpool that the 22-year-old could indeed be on his way to Anfield, with Goal.com revealing that the Reds had made him a top target and new boss Michael Laudrup admitting that his star man could leave.

But Glenn Corcoran, the midfielder’s agent, insists that his client is not trying to engineer a move away from the Liberty Stadium.

“Joe has not handed in a transfer request of any kind,” he told WalesOnline.

The Swans have confirmed that there has been no official contact from Liverpool regards to Allen, but speculation has grown despite a clause in Rodgers’ contract which prevents him from raiding his old club for 12 months.

However, the Welsh club could go back on their agreement if Liverpool were to meet their estimated 15 million pounds price tag for one of their most prized assets.

Allen joined the club aged nine and made 37 appearances as Swansea finished 11th in their first Premier League season last term.

Meanwhile, Laudrup has been working hard to bolster his squad after reportedly having a 2m pounds bid accepted for Rayo Vallecano’s goalscoring midfielder, Michu.
