Ancelotti going nowhere

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has rubbished reports he is quitting the English Premier League powerhouse.

The defending league champions have Ancelotti contracted until the culmination of the 2012 season, but rumours have circulated that their recent poor form – combined with the sacking of assistant coach Ray Wilkins – would push the Italian out of his job prior to the end of his deal.

But Ancelotti hosed down the speculation that he was vacating his role at Stamford Bridge.

“I don’t know if it’s enough to clarify my position today (Monday) to close these rumours and speculation,” the Blues boss said.

“These rumours are totally untrue. I don’t know why they came out. I didn’t speak with the LMA (League Managers Association). They called me last night when I was at home to find out what was happening.”

“These rumours are totally untrue. I have my contract until 2012, here, in this club. I’ve said a lot of times that I’d like to stay here.”

Despite losing three of their last four league matches, Ancelotti said he was confident he could take his current batch of players to back-to-back league titles.

“I love not just this club, but these players. I have a lot of confidence in these players, in this squad, so there’s no reason to change my ideas. I don’t know if this is enough to speak about all this,” the 51-year-old said.

“I think that when the team don’t reach the right results, obviously the coach is under pressure. Obviously I am under pressure because I’d like Chelsea to win every game.”
