Ancelotti: Ibrahimovic will stay with PSG

Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has insisted Zlatan Ibrahimovic will remain with the club beyond the end of the season.

The Sweden international has scored 32 goals in 43 appearances in his debut campaign in Paris, helping Ancelotti’s men to move within one win of sealing the Ligue 1 title.

That run of form has seen the striker strongly linked with a return to former club Juventus, who were last week crowned Serie A champions, but Ancelotti says Ibrahimovic is staying put.

Rumours of the Italian’s future have also been rife, with Real Madrid thought to be eyeing him as a possible replacement for Jose Mourinho.

“Many teams would like to have Zlatan, but it’s PSG’s luck that he plays here and is doing a fine job,” the former Chelsea coach told Sky Sport 24.

“He will still be with PSG next year, as will [Marco] Verratti.”

PSG sit seven points clear of second-placed Marseille in the French top-flight with three games remaining this season.

However, reports in France have suggested that the capital club could be docked points over a recent lack of discipline, particularly in Saturday’s game against Valenciennes, which saw skipper Thiago Silva sent off for placing his hands on the referee, while director of football Leonardo also angrily accosted the officials after the 1-1 draw.
