Anelka invites Drogba to China

Shanghai Shenhua player-coach Nicolas Anelka explains that he is hoping he will soon be reunited with Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.

The Frenchman joined the Chinese side from Chelsea last January, but was appointed player-manager after Jean Tigana was sacked from the post.

Anelka is now determined to help his team realize his full potential and believe two of his former teammates will join him in Shanghai.

“I hope Selim Benachour and Didier Drogba will quickly join us,” Anelka was quoted as saying in Le Journal du Dimanche.

“I hope they to come. It is up to the club to see if we have the right means.”

Didier Drogba has been heavily linked with a summer move to China, whereas Selim Benachour, who played with Anelka at Paris Saint-Germain, could arrive from Portuguese side Maritimo.

Shanghai Shenhua had a very disappointing start to the league campaign, and coach Jean Tigana was sacked after the team picked up just 5 points from as many games.

Anelka’s first game in charge didn’t really go as planned, seeing that Shanghai was beaten at home by Tianjin Teda.
