AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi is expecting the club to make a move for Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani.

Following their 2-1 win over Juventus in the Trofeo Berlusconi on Sunday, the Italian Prime Minister was quizzed about his club’s dealings in the transfer window, and indicated a move for the Italy international is something they are working on.

“The name of Alberto Aquilani is the right one, we are seeing what to do with [AC Milan vice-president Adriano] Galliani, I spoke yesterday with [coach Massimiliano] Allegri, so we’ll see,” he told reporters.

The AC Milan owner also commented on Antonio Cassano, who has been linked with a move away from the club all summer.

“He is a champion, who thinks very fast when going towards goal. I would say that if you put a player of his quality on a scale, the quality of the dish becomes much heavier,” he said.

Berlusconi ruled out the possibility of the club making an attacking signing, having been tentatively linked with Real Madrid’s Kaka and Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli.

“AC Milan has an excellent side, but if you happen to see an opportunity to improve it,” he added.

Milan will begin their defence of the Scudetto on August 27 when they take on Cagliari at the Stadio Sant’Elia.
