Arsenal agree deal for Ospina; Spurs eyeing Mattia Destro

hot-transfer-newsArsenal agree deal for Ospina

Premier League outfit Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina from Nice, reports Nice-Matin.

The Gunners were on the lookout for a new shot-stopper after Lukasz Fabianski left the club and they seem to have wrapped up the deal for the Colombia star.

Nice-Matin has learned that the two clubs have agreed on a €4 million fee, with the transfer expected to be made official in the coming days.

David Ospina developed into one of league’s top goalkeepers during the five years at Alianz Riviera, making 189 league appearances for les Aiglons.

The 25-year-old further proved his credentials with some excellent performances for Colombia at the 2014 World Cup.

Ospina is likely to be Arsenal’s third signing of the summer after Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy, with the Gunners now 6/1 for the Premiership title.

Spurs eyeing Mattia Destro

Sport Mediaset understands that Tottenham Hotspur are among clubs showing interest in AS Roma striker Mattia Destro.

The Italy international has shown a great deal of potential since arriving at Stadio Olimpico, but he has yet to nail down a regular starting berth.

And with Juan Manuel Iturbe arriving from Hellas Verona, it is believed Roma would now consider selling Destro in case their €25 million valuation of the player is matched.

Bundesliga high-flyers Wolfsburg were the first side to express their interest this summer, but it would appear as though Tottenham Hotspur lead the chase for the forward’s signature.

Spurs are desperately short of quality up front and they see Destro as an excellent addition to the squad at White Hart Lane.

The 23-year-old started 14 Serie A games last term, while making another 6 substitute appearances, but still managed to score 13 goals in the process.

Tiago Mendes set for Valencia move

Spanish radio station Cadena SER is reporting that Valencia are on the verge of signing Portuguese midfielder Tiago Mendes.

The former Portugal international was widely tipped to join Chelsea after his contract with Atletico Madrid came to an end, but it appears the Blues are no longer keen on the 33-year-old.

Cadena SER has learned that Valencia have moved to the front of the queue, having offered the player a two-year deal.

Los Che aim to sign Tiago as a replacement for Seydou Keita, who left Mestalla for AS Roma earlier this month.

According to the latest reports, Atletico Madrid could try and persuade the veteran midfielder to remain at Vicente Calderon after all.

Tiago Mendes spent last four and a half years with los Colchoneros, scoring 10 goals in 118 La Liga appearances.
