Arsenal consider improved Aouar bid

Arsenal are considering making an improved bid for Olympique Lyon’s Houssem Aouar after falling short with the first one, according to The Times.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently revealed that the Gunners had made an offer which was some way short of their valuation of the player. It is believed that the offer he referred to amounted to around £35 million, with Mikel Arteta desperately trying to bolster his midfield ranks ahead of the closing of the transfer window on October 5th. Not only do Lyon value Aouar at £55m (€60m), but Aulas says he is counting on the 22-year-old to lead the Ligue 1 team into the new Champions League campaign. On the other hand, he also said Alexandre Lacazette would not be leaving the club back in 2017, before the striker actually arrived to north London that summer.

Meanwhile, Aouar himself is believed to be interested in moving to the Emirates to play for Arteta’s side, and Lyon could be willing to do business for around £45m.
