Arsenal have been recently linked with a move for Russian playmaker, Andrei Arshavin. But, with Zenit St Petersburg’s evaluation of Arshavin putting him out of the reach of most clubs, Arsenal might now turn their attention to another Russian star.
Yuri Zhirkov has had an equally outstanding Euro 2008 campaign and his agent suggested that the club might want to put the player up for sale as he is at the peak of his market value.
“Zhirkov will be in demand everywhere – in England, Germany, Italy and Spain.
“Today, Yuri is one of the strongest players in the world in his position.
“If CSKA want to sell for a peak price, they need to do so now.” Said Zhirkov’s agent, according to Setanta Sports.
The report went on to say that the Arsenal would be one of those clubs interested in Zhirkov. The Gunners look resigned to losing Alexander Hleb, but they want a replacement for the Belorussian.
