According to a report from Sky Sports News, Ashley Cole is indeed set to reunite with former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard at Derby County. The 38 year old defender, who was once considered to be one of the greatest defenders in the world, will likely complete the deal later this week. A short six month contract will be put in place, which will allow him to try and help the Rams with their push for the playoffs.
He left LA Galaxy back in November and has been without a club ever since, with many fans wondering whether or not he’d hang up his boots altogether. Alas, the former England international seems to have been persuaded by Lampard, who is doing everything in his power to get Derby into that illustrious top six.
Derby are currently in 6th spot in the Championship, two points above 7th placed Bristol City and seven points away from Norwich up in 2nd.
