Enjoying their brightest run of the season, Atalanta will welcome a struggling Lazio side to the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia on Monday night.

Starting with Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta side, although it might have been a worrying start that briefly saw the hosts flirting with the relegation zone, the Blues have begun to fight back in some style. Picking up a 3-1 win away at Udinese last week, they have now won six of their last eight matches across all competitions, a run that stems back to the start of October. With no side outside the top-four holding a better-attacking record, it will certainly be their form in the final third most impressing Gasperini. Scoring 13 in their last five, one man for the hosts will be leading goalscorer Duván Zapata. The 27-year-old bagged a hat-trick last week and now has four in his last two.

As for the visitors, although a second place finish may have seen Lazio secure their spot in the knockout stage of this year’s Europa League, Simone Inzaghi will know his side must improve on their form immediately. Coming off the back of a 2-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in their final European appearance, the Blue and Whites have now failed to pick up a win since the start of November. Falling out of the top-four, it will be their recent defensive record giving Inzaghi the biggest headache. Lazio have now failed to record a clean sheet in their last 10 matches.
