Handed the chance to briefly climb to the top of the La Liga standings, a resurgent Athletic Bilbao will travel to Mallorca on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while the mood in Mallroca’s camp would have been on a high after announcing their La Liga return with a victory over Eibar on the opening weekend, Head Coach Vicente Moreno has seen his side come crashing back down to earth. Handed a 2-0 defeat against lower league Poblense last week, the Vermilions have lost their last three matches on the spin and their form in the final third will be a growing headache for fans around the Iberostar Estadi. Mallorca have now failed to find the net in almost 300 minutes of action, Friday could prove to be another extremely tough test for Moreno’s men.

As for the visitors, while Athletic Bilbao may have just missed out on a European return due to their goal difference last season, few would have expected their stellar start to the new campaign. Opening their account with a famous 1-0 win over defending champions Barcelona on the opening weekend, Gaizka Garitano’s men are one of just three sides yet to taste defeat in Spain’s top-tier so far. Continuing to build off of a very eye-catching summer, Friday’s guests are unbeaten in their last six appearances and have tasted defeat just once since the middle of May, we’re backing Bilbao to extend their winning run at the Iberostar Estadi.
