Competition: MLS

Market: Atlanta win

Odds: 6/4 @ Bet365

On Thursday, Atlanta will look to take advantage of the first of their two games in hand when they travel to the Gillette Stadium to face off against New England Revolution.

For New England, back in November, The Revolution turned to former Premier League goalkeeper Brad Friedel in an attempt to improve on last years ninth place finish in the Eastern Conference. Currently sat sixth in the table, The Blues are coming off the back of a 3-3 draw away at the Vancouver Whitecaps last time out, Friedel will be hoping to improve on his sides recent defensive issues. Although New England have only lost two of their last 12 at the Gillette Stadium, The Revs have now conceded 10 in their last four and they have only kept one clean sheet at home since October 2017.

As for Gerardo Martino’s Atlanta side, although The Five Stripes are coming off the back of a 3-1 loss away to New York Red Bulls last week, Atlanta have been in dominant form in the Eastern Conference and sit top of the table with two games in hand over Columbus Crew. Along with holding the joint best-attacking stats in either the Eastern or the Western Conference, one man to watch for Atlanta will be forward Josef Martinez, the 25-year-old is the joint leading goalscorer in the MLS with eight goals to his name. The Reds will also be looking to carry on their own impressive record against the hosts on Thursday, although the two sides have only met twice, New England are yet to find the net against Atlanta and Martino’s side have scored seven against their opponents in those two outings.
