Bayern and Liverpool reach Sadio Mane agreement

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Liverpool over the proposed transfer of Sadio Mane, according to Paul Joyce of The Times. The Bundesliga champions will pay £25.7 million (€32m) straight up as the guaranteed part of the fee, with £5m to come in appearance-related bonuses, and further £2.6m in add-ons related to individual and team success the player achieves in a Bayern shirt. The total amount is therefore £35.1m, or €41m.

Liverpool had rejected two bids from Bayern for Mane, the second one in particular being described as ‘laughable’. Things appear to have changed with the arrival of a delegation of the Bavarians led by sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic today (Friday), and now the deal is agreed.

With numerous sources reporting that Mane has already agreed a three-year contract with Bayern, the medical ahead of the move is the only thing left before the transfer becomes official.

Mane was a big part of Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp, and his departure after six years will surely be considered as the end of an era at Anfield.
